This document specifies the type and size, material, technical requirements and marking of flat push rods for die casting molds. This document is applicable to the design and manufacture of flat push rods for die casting molds.

GB/T 4678 "Die Casting Die Parts" is an important national standard that aims to unify the technical requirements and specifications of the die casting die industry. As the 16th part of the series, this standard mainly specifies the technical parameters and performance of flat push rods in detail.

With the advancement of die casting technology and changes in industry needs, GB/T 4678.16 has been revised several times since its first release in 2003. This revision introduces the B-type flat push rod and optimizes the size range and technical requirements to meet the needs of modern mold manufacturing.

Detailed explanation of technical requirements

This standard specifies the type and size, material and hardness requirements of flat push rods, including:

  • Type and size: The size of type A flat push rods is shown in Table 1, and the size of type B flat push rods is shown in Table 2. The surface roughness Ra of the unnoted surface should be 3.2μm.
  • Material requirements: It is recommended to use 4Cr5MoSiV1 material with a hardness range of 45~48 HRC. Nitrided flat push rods must meet specific nitriding layer depth and surface hardness requirements.
  • Tolerance marking: The limit deviation of diameter D shall comply with the requirements of e8 in GB/T1800.1-2020.

Recommended Steps:

  1. Select type A or type B flat push rod according to mold requirements.
  2. Refer to Table 1 and Table 2 to determine the dimensional parameters and ensure that the tolerance meets the requirements.
  3. Preferably use 4Cr5MoSiV1 material and perform nitriding treatment to increase surface hardness.
  4. Strictly follow the standard marking format for product identification.
