National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 42305—2023
In-depth interpretation of cinnamon cultivation technology regulations
1. Background and significance of standard formulation
This standard was proposed by the State Forestry and Grassland Administration to standardize the cultivation technology of cinnamon and improve its yield and quality. It is applicable to the entire life cycle management of cinnamon, including seedling cultivation, planting management and harvesting.
2. Cultivation area selection of cinnamon
Climatic conditions | Site conditions | Origin requirements |
Suitable for warm and humid tropical and subtropical monsoon climate zones, with an average annual temperature above 20℃ | Low mountains and hills below 800m above sea level, pH value 4.5~6.5 | Air quality complies with GB3095, soil quality complies with GB15618, and irrigation water quality complies with GB5084 |
3. Technical specifications for seedling cultivation
Seedling cultivation:
- Seed collection time: From February to April every year, harvest when the fruit is ripe and purple-black or black.
- Seed treatment: After piling for 3d~4d, scrub and peel.
- Seedbed preparation: height 15cm~20cm, width 100cm~120cm, the substrate is yellow heart soil or mixed with no more than 30% coconut bran, peat soil, etc.
Cutting seedling cultivation:
- Cutting time: From February to April and September to October every year.
- Cutting treatment: Collect semi-lignified shoots and cut them into cuttings with a length of 10cm~15cm and more than 3 buds.
- Rooting agent treatment: Soak the lower end of the cuttings in a solution of 500mg/L~1000mg/L indolebutyric acid (IBA) or 200mg/L~400mg/Ω rooting powder for 2h~4h.
4. Planting and management techniques
Planting density:
Stand type | Plant spacing(m) | Row spacing(m) |
Pure forest | 1.0~1.2 | 1.0~1.2 |
Multi-layer forest | 1.0~1.4 | 1.0~1.4 |
Fertilization technology:
- In the year of planting: fertilize once between June and July.
- The following year and thereafter: apply fertilizer once each from February to March and from June to July.
- Fertilizer selection: organic fertilizer (organic matter ≥45%, total nutrients ≥8%) or compound fertilizer (N:P:K=15:15:15).
5. Pest and disease control technology
Main diseases:
Disease name | Prevention and control methods |
Blight | Reasonably dense planting, timely thinning of branches, and keeping the forest ventilated. Spray 1500~2000 times of 5% cypermethrin and 500 times of 25% carbendazim. |
Powdery mildew | Remove diseased branches and leaves, and apply sulfur powder in the early stage of the disease. |
Main pests:
- Cinnamon blister bug:Spray 1500-2000 times of 5% cypermethrin 2-3 times from June to October.
- Longhorn beetle:Apply a mixture of sulfur powder: lime: water = 1:10:40 to the trunk during the egg-laying period of the adult insects.
6. Implementation suggestions
To ensure the efficient implementation of cinnamon cultivation technology, it is recommended that:
- Strictly select the planting area and seedlings according to the standards.
- Strengthen tending management, timely weeding, soil loosening and fertilization.
- Establish a complete pest and disease monitoring system and regularly check the prevention and control effects.
