Eddy current testing method for round steel (English Version)
GB/T 11260-2023 Eddy Current Testing Method for Round Steel is the latest national standard issued by the People's Republic of China, which is used to regulate the eddy current testing (ECT) technology for surface and near-surface defects of round steel. This standard replaces the previous GB/T 11260-2008, and has made a number of technical improvements and clause optimizations on the original basis.
With the rapid development of the steel industry, the requirements for the quality of round steel are increasing. Eddy current testing, as an efficient non-destructive testing method, plays an important role in ensuring product quality and reducing scrap rate. The release and implementation of this standard further enhances the standardization and scientificity of the application of eddy current testing technology.
Standard versions | Main differences | Technical improvements |
---|---|---|
GB/T 11260-2008 | Does not include general requirements for detection and array detection methods | - Added technical requirements for magnetic saturation devices and demagnetization devices- Clarified the detection standards for rotating probes |
GB/T 11260-2023 | New chapters:
| - Introduced array detection technology- Standardized the artificial defect processing method of the comparison sample - clarified the residual magnetism requirements after demagnetization treatment |
Eddy current testing (ECT) principle:When AC current passes through the detection coil, eddy currents will be generated on the surface of round steel. The distortion of eddy currents will cause changes in coil impedance, thereby reflecting the presence of defects.
In order to ensure the effectiveness of eddy current detection, it is recommended to follow the following principles in actual application:
