Scope: This document specifies the structure, dimensions and technical requirements of convex head bulge type blind rivets (hereinafter referred to as convex head blind rivets). This document is applicable to the design, manufacture and acceptance of convex head bulge type blind rivets for aviation with single-sided mechanical connection.

Interpretation of the standard for convex head bulge type blind rivets

1. Background and significance of the standard

GB/T 42849-2023 "Convex head bulge type blind rivets" was proposed and coordinated by the National Technical Committee for Aircraft Standardization, and the main drafting units include China Aviation Comprehensive Technology Research Institute, Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute of Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. of China. This standard aims to standardize the design, manufacturing and acceptance requirements of convex head bulge type blind rivets, and is applicable to aviation rivets for single-sided mechanical connection.

The standard mainly specifies the structure, size and technical requirements of convex head blind rivets. The key contents include:

Design parameters of stop ring and core rod

Thickness requirements of sandwich adjustment ring

Material and surface treatment specifications of nail sleeve

3. Technical requirements and quality control

The technical requirements for convex head nails include materials, surface treatment and marking examples, see Table 3 for details. The following are the key requirements:

Material: GH 2132 (according to GB/T 14992)

Surface treatment: passivation according to GB/T 5267.4

Marking example: When the diameter code is -5 and the interlayer code is -05, the marking is GB/T 42849 E-5-05

4. Implementation suggestions and application cases

In actual applications, the following measures are recommended:

Strictly select diameter specifications and interlayer codes according to standards

Ensure that materials and surface treatment meet the requirements

Perform regular quality inspections, including dimensional deviation and strength tests
