Introduction

GB/T 36946-2018 Standard Overview

GB/T 36946-2018 is a national standard of the People's Republic of China, entitled Leather Chemical Tests - Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons - Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry. This standard specifies the specific method for the detection of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in leather and leather products using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS).

Background of Standard Formulation

PAHs are a class of highly toxic and carcinogenic chemicals that are widely present in industrial pollutants and the environment. During the leather manufacturing process, these harmful substances may remain in the finished product, posing a threat to human health and the environment. Therefore, establishing an effective detection method is crucial to ensure product quality and consumer safety.

Technology Evolution Analysis

The detection of PAHs has evolved from traditional spectrophotometry to modern chromatography technology. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry has become one of the most commonly used detection methods due to its high sensitivity, efficiency and accuracy. This standard adopts the advanced GC/MS method and combines it with the selected ion monitoring mode (SIM), which significantly improves the detection efficiency and accuracy.

Implementation recommendations

Precautions for experimental operation

  • Sample handling:Ensure that the sampling site complies with the provisions of QB/T 2706 to avoid contamination.
  • Extraction and purification:When using ultrasonic extraction and silica gel solid phase extraction column purification, pay attention to controlling the flow rate and eluent ratio.
  • Instrument calibration:Regularly calibrate the GC/MS system to ensure the stability of the chromatographic column and ion source temperature.

Data analysis and quality control

  • Blank test:Perform at least one blank test for each batch of samples to ensure data reliability.
  • Recovery verification:The recovery rate of the standard working solution should not be less than 80% to ensure the accuracy of the method.
  • Result Report: Record sampling information, abnormal phenomena and operation steps that do not meet the standards in detail.
