Standards for Classification and Evaluation of Popular Skiing Events (English Version)
The successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics has stimulated the sports enthusiasm of the people across the country and promoted the rapid development of ice and snow sports. However, with the rise of mass skiing events, problems such as uneven competition levels and irregular organization have become increasingly prominent. To solve these problems, GB/T 42374—2023 came into being, aiming to improve the quality of events through standardization and promote the healthy development of skiing.
| Standard dimensions | GB/T 42374—2023 | International Ski Federation (FIS) | Local ski standards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grade division | 6 levels (1 to 6) | 5 levels | Set according to local conditions |
| Evaluation indicators | Professionalism, attention, contribution, innovation | Technicality, safety, organizational efficiency | Local characteristic indicators |
| Assessment cycle | Once a year, reassess every three years | Reassess every two years | Reassess irregularly |
Choice of assessment subject:It is recommended to give priority to institutions with rich experience in organizing competitions and good social reputation, such as operators of large sports venues or well-known ski clubs.
Application conditions optimization:For events applying for assessment for the first time, it is recommended to conduct a small-scale test first to ensure that all indicators meet the standards before formally applying. For example, a municipal skiing event was gradually upgraded to the provincial standard after being held for three consecutive sessions.
Innovation improvement:Design the theme of the event in combination with local cultural characteristics. For example, a skiing event held in ethnic minority areas can be integrated with ethnic dances or traditional costumes to enhance the appeal of the event.
