Introduction

GB/T 713.2-2023 Standard Interpretation

1. Standard Background and Technology Evolution Analysis

Pressure equipment is an important basic equipment of the national economy, and its safe operation is directly related to the safety of life and property. As the basic standard for steel plates and steel strips for pressure equipment, the GB/T 713 series of standards have undergone many revisions and improvements. The release of GB/T 713.2-2023 mainly targets non-alloy steel and alloy steel with specified temperature performance, integrates the contents of GB/T 713-2014 and GB/T 35012-2018, and adds a number of technical requirements, such as Q460R technical indicators, high temperature mechanical properties test, etc.

As pressure equipment develops towards large-scale and high-parameter directions, the performance requirements for materials are becoming increasingly stringent. The introduction of GB/T 713.2-2023 further standardizes the technical requirements for materials and provides stricter guarantees for the use of materials in boilers, pressure vessels, LNG ships and other fields.

Technical requirements GB/T 713-2014 GB/T 35012-2018 GB/T 713.2-2023
Q460R Technical Indicators None None Newly added, see Table 1 and Table 2 for details
High temperature mechanical properties Partial requirements Not covered New test temperature points (100¡ãC and 150¡ãC), see Table 3 for details
Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC) Test Not specified Not specified Newly added, see Appendix C for details

2. Interpretation of Core Technical Requirements

The main technical changes of GB/T 713.2-2023 include:

  • Newly added Q460R technical requirements: The chemical composition, mechanical properties and high temperature performance indicators are clarified, and it is suitable for pressure-bearing equipment with a service temperature of not less than -20¡ãC.
  • High-temperature mechanical properties enhancement: The yield strength requirements at 100¡ãC and 150¡ãC are added to ensure the safety and reliability of the material in high temperature environments.
  • Residual element restrictions: The total content of residual elements such as chromium, nickel, and copper is strictly controlled to ensure the purity and performance stability of the material.
  • Hydrogen induced cracking test: A new HIC assessment method is added, and the test is carried out using standard solution A. For specific requirements, see Appendix C.

Example:For Q460R steel plate, when the thickness is 20-30 mm, the tensile strength shall be no less than 610 MPa, and the yield strength (Rp0.2) shall be no less than 520 MPa.

3. Implementation suggestions

To ensure the effective implementation of GB/T 713.2-2023 standard, it is recommended that:

  • Suppliers:Strictly control the chemical composition of raw materials, strengthen the testing of high temperature mechanical properties and HIC tests, and ensure that the products meet the standard requirements.
  • Manufacturers:Specify the technical requirements when placing orders, especially for high-risk use environments, it is recommended to add additional test items (such as HIC tests).
  • Testing institutions: Establish a complete high-temperature mechanical properties and HIC assessment capability to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test data.

In addition, it is recommended that enterprises negotiate with suppliers to develop personalized technical agreements based on their own needs, and clarify sampling methods, test conditions and qualification criteria.
