Scope
This document describes the method for determining the content of manganese, silicon, iron and phosphorus in ferromanganese, manganese silicon alloy, ferromanganese nitride and metallic manganese by wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (fused glass disk method). This document is applicable to the determination of manganese, silicon, iron and phosphorus content in ferromanganese, manganese silicon alloy, ferromanganese nitride and metallic manganese. The determination range of each element is shown in Table 1.
Introduction

1. Standard Overview

This standard specifies the method for determining the manganese, silicon, phosphorus and iron contents in ferromanganese, manganese silicon alloy, ferromanganese nitride and metallic manganese by wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (fused glass plate method). This method is applicable to the determination of the mass fraction of each element in the above materials. The determination range is shown in the following table:

Analytical elementsDetermination range (mass fraction) %
Manganese (Mn)60.00~98.00
Silicon (Si)0.15~28.00
Iron (Fe)1.50~23.00
Phosphorus (P)0.01~0.45

2. Background and significance of standard formulation

Manganese-based ferroalloys play an important role in the steel industry, and their performance depends on the precise ratio of elements. This standard fills the gap in existing detection methods, provides efficient and accurate analytical methods, and provides support for product quality control and production optimization.

3. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard elementsGB/T 5686.9—2023Comparative analysis
Detection methodX-ray fluorescence spectrometry (molten glass sheet method)Compared with traditional chemical titration, it is more efficient and has a wider range of applications.
Sample preparationHigh-temperature molten cast glass sheetEnsures uniform distribution of elements and detection accuracy.
Precision requirementsRepeatability limit r, reproducibility limit R (see standard for specific values)Strictly control test errors to improve the reliability of results.

4. Implementation suggestions

4.1 Instrument selection and calibration

Select an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer that complies with GB/T16597 to ensure stable equipment performance. Regularly conduct standardization inspections and use standard samples to correct instrument drift.

4.2 Precautions for sample preparation

Strictly control the high-temperature melting process to avoid deformation or contamination of the crucible. Accurately weigh reagents and samples to ensure consistent quality of glass sheets.

4.3 Data processing and result reporting

Perform numerical rounding in accordance with GB/T8170 to ensure that the results meet the requirements of the specification. Record the test conditions, abnormal phenomena and factors that may affect the results in detail.
