2022 EditionStructural adjustment + editorial modificationNew glass fiber, ceramic fiber, three-dimensional fabric, etc.

Reinforced fiber classification system

1. Glass fiber series

  • E glass fiber: general electrical insulation type (SiO2-Al2O3-CaO system)
  • R/S glass fiber: high strength and high modulus (Al2O3≥20%)
  • D glass fiber: low dielectric constant (SiO2-B2O3 system)

2. Specialty fibers

Fiber typeTypical propertiesApplication areas
Silicon carbide fiberHigh temperature resistance 1800℃Aircraft engine hot end components
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiberSpecific strength>35cN/dtexBullet-proof protective equipment

Key performance characterization indicators

Mechanical properties

  • Specific modulus: Ratio of elastic modulus to density (Standard 6.23)
  • Drapability test: Evaluation of the bundling of untwisted roving (Standard 6.18)

Processing performance

  • Chopability: The ease of cutting fiber bundles (Standard 6.40)
  • Permeation rate: resin impregnation time (standard 6.56)

Implementation suggestions

  1. New basalt fiber products should be classified according to clause 4.1
  2. Three-dimensional fabric performance testing should be combined with the in-plane permeability index of 6.57
  3. Electronic-grade fibers must meet the dielectric performance requirements of clause 3.53
