National Food Safety Standard Food Nutrition Fortifier Sodium Selenate (English Version)
GB1903.56-2022 is the national food safety standard of the People's Republic of China, which is specifically for the production, testing and application of the food nutrient fortifier sodium selenate. The standard was issued on June 30, 2022 and officially implemented on December 30, 2022.
With the development of the food industry, nutrient fortifiers are increasingly used in food. As an important nutrient fortifier, sodium selenate has the functions of antioxidant and immune enhancement. However, its production and use involve heavy metal detection and safety issues. The formulation of GB1903.56-2022 aims to ensure the quality and safety of sodium selenate and regulate its application in food.
Dimensions | Old version of the standard (GB1903.56-201X) | New revised standard (GB1903.56-2022) |
---|---|---|
Scope of application | Applicable only to products with sodium selenite as raw material | Covering the entire production chain from selenious acid to finished products, adding hydrogen peroxide oxidation process requirements |
Physical and chemical indicators | The specific methods for loss on drying and sodium selenite content are not specified | Detailed provisions are added in Appendix A to ensure the scientific nature of the detection method |
Heavy metal restrictions | Indicators such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury have not been fully quantified | Specify the limit values of each heavy metal and require the use of ICP-OES method for detection |
To ensure the quality and safety of sodium selenate, it is recommended that:
